Found new hardware balloon shows, then usb device not
recognized. USB device "malfunctioned" comes up. device
manager shows all USB devices to be operational. all
ports are enabled. should be able to plug in LexmarkX75
into any port. been uninstalling and reinstalling,
talking with Lexmark, and computer manufacturer forever.
to no avail.Any suggestions, that don't include violence
of any kind? thanks

No violence ...

You MUST install the software BEFORE connecting the printer.....

And it's a Lexmark....

Disconnect the printer from the PC.

Follow Bruce Sanderson's instructions at:
http://members.shaw.ca/bsanders/CleanPrinterDrivers.htm

Pay particular attention to his special section on Lexmark printers......

When you've finished the cleanup, reboot the PC.

Download a new set of printer drivers from the Lexmark website at
www.lexmark.com

Install the software. Do NOT reconnect the printer UNTIL the software tells
you to do so.
