I was having problems with a screen-saver and the company
told me I needed to upgrade to DirectX-9 and that I only
had DirectX-6.
When I checked to see which I had it showed DirectX-9 on
the front of the page in the DirectX window. What's
confussing to me is when checking certain appls. like
sound, display and network none were higher than a 6.13.
Most were 5.00. Does this mean I don't have DirectX-9?
I'm so...confused
Please don't "hate"....Peace

Hi DooCee,
On Windows XP you can only have DirectX 8.1, 8.2, 9.0 or 9.0a installed. The
version numbers you are seeing in sound and display refer to the version
number of drivers you are using for hardware on your computer. In the
networking tab the version number of 5.03.0000.0900 would show you had
directx 9 direct play files installed on your computer. The directx version
shown on the system tab of dxdiag is the one to go by.

Hope this helps
Mark
