I'm trying to use the Fax software included in Windows XP
Pro. Everything seems to be fine except it isn't using
the dialing rules. I want it to dial via a calling card
because I don't have long distance service. It appears to
be trying to dial like regular long distance 1+ (123) 456-
7890. It gets back a message saying no dial tone or line
is in use. Seems to me that no matter what, it should be
attempting to dial properly, but I may also have another
issue in that I'm connected via a cable modem.

I haven't used Fax services before, and I'm pretty new to
a cable modem. If anyone out there can offer some help, I
would greatly appreciate it.

You cannot use the fax service with a cable modem. Only dial up [anolog]
modem.

If you have no analog modem or phone line, you will need to use a fee based
Internet Fax Service. Several are listed here: http://www.savetz.com/fax/
