Hi All,
I purchased a second hand PC which came loaded with XP Pro and I also got
the XP CD. How can I tell whether that CD is an OEM version or a separate
retail version.

Regards Ron H.

Right click the My Computer icon on the Desktop and select Properties, =
General. You should find the Registration number. Mine is and OEM =
version and the second of four parts of the registration is the letters =
OEM. If you look at the Windows XP CD for an OEM version it should say ( =
amongst other things ) "For distribution with a new PC only".

Hope this helps.

The Retail comes in a plastic case, the OEM comes in paper (multidisk =
products) / carboard (single disk products) envelopes and has For Use =
With A New PC (or similar words) written on the Disk.
