Possibly you need to update the drivers for your Sound Card. Also ensure
that all your cables are plugged in correctly. It is surprising how easy it
is to overlook the obvious like a speaker plug 8^)
Some sound cards, especially cheaper cards, will not perform the same way
from OS to OS. what Sound Card do you have?

1) Check the volume on the speakers.
2) If the speakers use external power, make sure the power is plugged in
and the speakers are turned on.
No offense intended in suggesting these two items. Don't feel bad if
you forgot either of these. I recently changed speakers and forgot to
turn them on, and was wondering what was wrong with the computer until I
remembered to turn on the speakers....
