add/remove programs

No programs are displayed when the add/remove programs
icon is selected(from Control Panel). Search of ms on-line
help says that the possible explanation for a program not
being listed is that too many characters are in the name
in the registry, but every program can't be that way.

Run regedit and see if
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Uninstall
is populated or empty.
