Save/Save As Hanging

Hi. All of a sudden, when i try to save or save as a file, the dialogue
box hangs for about 30 seconds, then says (not responding), then
responds. This is very irritating when you are in a hurry, as i often
am. Any ideas of why or how to fix this?

Basics first

Try doing a Disk Cleanup on C drive - right click on Local Disk C in
My Computer and click on Disk Cleanup. Check all boxes except
"Compress Old Files"

Then try Defrag on C drive - right click on Local Disk C in My
Computer and click on Tools, Defragment now.

See if that improves performance.
