I hope someone can offfer some advice as I'm stuck.

I performed a clean install of windows XP onto my
computer, applied my drivers etc. Then I went to windows
update where it analysed my OS as usual but when it
reached 100% came up with a window saying that windows
update had encountered an error and could not download the
update.

I've tried the knowledge base and followed the only
applicable thread which was concerned with reinstalling
after applying SP-1 (which I had) but the registry key
that it mentions to dlelte was not present on my computer.
I've tried to reinstall again with the dynamic update
option but the problem persists.

I'm unsure if it is related to this problem or secondary
to having an uot of date IE6 but I'm also expeiencing
problems with IE with hanging pages, hailures to load and
unresponsive web buttons.

Any suggestions appreciated.
Cheers

Hi,

Locate the WindowsUpdate.log file under \Windows or \Winnt. Open it and
scroll to the bottom. Look at the error codes and compare them against this
site or post back here with them:
