I am getting little green marks on cells saying number
stored as text. When I try to format as special/social
security number, I can't figure out how to change a whole
column at once. I don't have time to double click on
7,000 items! Can anyone help? Thanks!

Highlight the entire column by clicking on the column letter at the top,
then do your formatting.

The above newsgroup is a good source of help for new Excel users.

If you click on the column letter, you will select the whole column. Then
you can use Format, Cells.
