Help. I was given an older pc from work. a HP VECTRA p3
600MHz that im fixing up to give to my daughter.
formatted the hard drive and loaded xp pro onto it. all
was going good. was loading up some games and on
reboot,on the black sreen, boot up screen right after all
of the bla,bla,bla copyright,cpu etc!!!!!!!!!!!!!! a
statement states: PASSWORDS HAVE BEEN CLEARED,SET SWITCH
CLEAR PASSWORD TO THE OPEN/UP POSITION BEFORE REBOOTING.
I have never received this message before and i thought
through the years ive seen them all going where i
shouldnt go. ive tried keeping the f8 key down during
boot up to try and get into safemode, but always goes
back to the same screen. wont boot up. and when the
sreeen is posted it says to hit f2 for setup and wont go
any further. i could sure use some help.
Thanks. Jeff Jones

Contact the IT people at work. Sounds like some special software or
hardware has been installed to set the system back to predetermined
configuration.

normal , ect. I have tried every last one of those modes and I keep getting
a blue screen that says " problem has been detected and windows has been
shut down " and goes on to tell me to resart the pc and delete any new hard
ware. As you know the pc came with no start up disk or anything .

What did you do before this happend. Is there anything you did which might be suspected of causing this problem? There are a number of possible causes to bring about this symptom so that your answer to the above will help narrow down the area to look.
