I have just formatted my c: drive for installation
of Win XP but it won't boot from the CDROM
drive. ( I have changed the sequence to CDROM,
C, A)
My PC is a 4-year old P3 450MHz (former OS
Win2000)
Would appreciate any help.
Thanks

Hi, Joe.
Have you booted this computer from CD-ROM before? Each computer is
different, of course, depending on its maker and BIOS version. Mine
presents a message to "press any key to boot from CD", or something like
that. If I don't press a key, it boots from C:, or whatever I have set to
secondary.
Is your CD-ROM connected via IDE? Or SCSI? USB?? You may need to either
enable the proper interface in your BIOS or load a driver before attempting
to access the CD-ROM.

If you can't get the CD to boot, go here and choose the proper floppy boot
install download. Be advised that you need the proper one, for SP1 CD or
Non-SP1 CD.
Download and place on floppys, need either 5 or 6 of them.

Hi RC,
My BIOS allows me to boot from CD-ROM which is
connected via IDE. Anyway, the problem is now solved.
Thanks to you and to all who replied.
