View Full Version : Strange weirdness at shutdown

Hi,
Lately, every time I shut down XP, there is an alert that pops up saying:
"XPRT Message Window is not responding" and I have to end this manually, repeatedly, until XP finally takes off to shut down.
Has anyone here heard of "XPRT"?
Appreciate the help!
Chance.

Hi,
It's not part of Windows. Before shutting down, hit ctrl+shift+escape and
check the processes tab for clues. Start manually shutting down processes to
try and identify which is the culprit.
I would strongly suspect something installed on the system that shouldn't be
there (spyware, trojan, adware, etc.). You might also look at the startup
load - start/run msinfo32, expand the software environment and click on the
startup programs.

Nutcase,
I ran Spybot and it shows I'm clean. I ran RegDetective (A PC Magazine
utility) and it found nothing in the registry. I will try your instructions
on shut down and see what happens.
Thanks for the pointer.
