lost user photo

My photo doesn't appear at the top of the start menu any more(as the
user), just my name, when I went into users accounts in control panel my
chosen photo was there and I tried changing even, but it still doesn't
display when I open start menu, just a small thing but you might just know
what I can do! Also XP seems awfully slow, can I speed it up? Have removed
programs and tried to keep my personal settings to the minimum but still
much slower than '98. Thanks

The photo will not appear on the start menu if using the classic style
menu or the classic theme. It also won't show up if your computer is a
member of a domain.
