I use Microsoft Works 2002 calendar (I don't have Outlook) daily and am wondering if there is a way to set it to come up automatically when I turn on my computer each morning, instead of having to click on the quick launch calendar icon, then click on Work
s Calendar, then click on Start the Calendar. Is this possible? If so, how do I set it? I am fairly new to the computer world and appreciate all the help I receive here. Thank you!

Blondie;
If you just want the Works Calendar to start;
Create a shortcut to:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Works Shared\WksCal.exe
Then place the shortcut in:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup
Or:
C:\Documents and Settings\Your Name Here\Start Menu\Programs\Startup
-------------------
From Works Calendar Help:
[Set a reminder for an appointment
What is a reminder?
A reminder is a message that notifies you of an upcoming appointment. You can specify when
you want the reminder to appear. For example, if you set a reminder for a birthday, you
may want the reminder to appear several days before the birthday. Or, if you set a
reminder for doctor's appointment, you may want it to appear an hour before the
appointment.
Click the appointment (a meeting that takes place within a specific time of day) you want
to set a reminder for.
On the File menu, click Open Appointment.
In the Reminder list, click the time when you want the reminder to occur.
Click OK.]

Hi, Wesley--
Thanks for your reply. I did figure out how to create the shortcut to the " program files...wkscal.exe," but couldn't get the "C:etc." choice to come up in my "send to" sub-menu (only the D: and a few others appeared). However, I did get the shortcut on
to my desktop, then dragged it down to my quick-launch bar and tried it out and it works great, so thank you very much! If you have a moment and can tell me how to do the second step above, I'd appreciate the lesson (at your convenience, of course!). You
all are so nice to share your knowledge and experience with those of us just starting out. Thanks again!

Hi Blondie;
If I understand your question....

If you already "used" the shortcut to WksCal.exe, then make another one.
Right click the Start button | Explore All Users | Size the window that pops
up, so you can see your Desktop | Click the + next to Programs in the left-
hand pane | Click Startup | Drag the WksCal.exe shortcut into the right-
hand pane.

Now you Calendar should start when you turn on your computer in the mornings.
Post back if you have any more questions.

Blondie;
You're welcome.

Hunt and peck = "a slow and inefficient typing technique used by untrained typists in which each key
is laboriously searched for before being struck."
It's a custom deal to replace; So and so wrote: I think it's funny. :o)
But, I'm easily amused.

Hi, again, Wesley--
Yes, it did work. And may I say that you have a way of giving complicated instructions that makes them easy to follow. I went through the procedure you outlined, then restarted my computer, and TA-DA -- up jumped my calendar! So thanks again, Wes. You
da man!

PS--I'm just curious. What does "hunted and pecked" after my name/address and prior to the text of my questions below mean? And is this :o) a sideways smiley face? See how much I still have to learn???
