I recently purchased the new MOTO GP2 disk that contained
DirectX 9.0. When trying to load this new version of
DirectX, I recieved the 'No Windows Logo, Driver not
digitally signed' compatibility warning as the load
aborted. My first question is how does a game that
doesn't/hasn't pass the Windows logo requirements have
access to DirectX 9.0? When I later went to the WINDOWS
UPDATE website and downloaded the original 9.0 from its
creator, Microsoft, the same compatibility warning
displayed as the load once again aborted. How do I
obtain a version of DirectX 9.0 that will boot? Thanks
for any help in advance.

Open Windows Explorer and navigate to the c:\windows\system32\Catroot2
folder. Right click and rename this folder to Catrrot2 old.

Go to start/Run, type: services.msc and press OK. Navigate down to the
"Cryptographic Services" and double click it. Set the Properties to
Automatic and Start the service.

Try the installation again from the Windows Update website.

DirectX 8.1 is backward compatible with DX 5,6,7 and 8.
Load up DXDIAG and at the bottom it should say:

DirectX Version: DirectX 9.0a (4.09.0000.0901)

or something similar. Never heard of DX 2!!!

If a game requests an old DX then ignore it and continue to install.
If it won't install, use compatibility mode instead.
