It sounds like either the CD itself is dirty or has fingerprints on it or
the laser in the CD drive needs cleaning.

i had the same problem with my pc a few years back, then it got where when i would start it up i could hear, a small roaring sound, sorry to say, but it only got worst, my hard drive was messed up and the whole modem to be replaced, fortunate for me, i ha
d an extended warranty on it.
