I am unable to install any software without getting an
error message. Computer may be in safe mode, or a problem
with windows installer, does anyone know how i can fix

Greetings Wanda...
First off - have you checked Windows Update for any update pertaining to
your question? Secondly -- If the problem persists try re-installing the
Windows Installer. You may be able to download a copy from
www.microsoft.com from their download link. I hope this helps.

Hi Wanda, here some links etc for you to consider which is relevant or not.
Do you have SP1 installed. One user fixed the problem by installing SP1.
Good luck
To unregister and re-register Windows Installer:
Click Start, and then click Run.
Type in the Open box: msiexec /unregister and then click OK.
Click Start, and then click Run.
Type in the Open box: msiexec /regserver click OK.
Type commands exactly, including the space between c and /.
This will not affect programs which use Windows Installer that are already
installed.
