there are three computers on my tcp/ip network with "workgroup" as its
name. there is a cat5 netgear 6 port switch and a linksys cable
router set to DHCP providing internet and device addresses. the
internet works fine on all computers and all see each other via
network. none of the printers are lpt1 local shared printers but have
their own network addresses. these three printers are connected to
network netgear switch and were ok before adding the new XP Pro pc.
one is an hp5000 that now shows IP Address 192.168.1.103

my problem is adding these network printers to the XP. the printers
are not being shown using "add a network printer". On the pc with
Win98SE, all the printers are being shown at the "workgroup" level in
"my network". the XP Pro does not show the "my network" level but
does show "workgroup" with all three pc's at that level but not the
printers.

there is only one user on the XP with full admin rights. how do i
cause the printers to be seen to be added to the XP Pro pc? i tried
addressing them directly as shown in XP's "add network printer" with
no results. thanks
