i cannot 'clear history' after surfing as advised by my
bank. however i can delate one site at a time. history
clears the next day as i set to one day retention.
have tried clearing history in safe mode but does not
solv my problem.

I don't know why they recommend clearing history. Usually emptying the
browser cache is sufficient to clear sensitive cached information (this
is what some of the secure sites I visit - including my bank -
recommend).

Close all browser windows. Then use Internet Options to clear Temporary
Internet Files and History. When the browser is closed, you can access
Internet Options through the Control Panel. Or right click on a system
shortcut for IE (one that offers "Internet Properties" as a choice vs
plain "Properties.")
