View Full Version : Creating Shortcuts to CD/DVD drives

In my WinXP home computer, I go to My Computer and right click each of my
drives A:, D: E: and F: (floppy, DVD, CD, Zip respectively). In each case I
request a shortcut be placed on the desktop.

The floppy and Zip shortcuts work fine. The CD and DVD, appear correct, and
properties shows the correct target. But if I click on find target, or if I
double click the shortcut, Windows can't find either.

Have i inadvertantly done something

This is a coincidence - I was just going to post a similar question to this
myself.
I like to have desktop shortcuts for each drive.
I have never had a problem in the past but now, both my dvd and cd-rw
shortcuts don't work although they appear correct. The shortcuts to my hard
drives and floppy work just fine. This is after a clean install on xp
professional.

Any ideas anyone?

Thanks,

Peter

FYI, I received this in another group.

It's a bug in a recent update (Q821557). You may uninstall it via
Add/Remove Programs.

MS is working on a fix.
