Have you run the Upgrade Advisor? Have you got sufficient CONTIGUOUS free
disk space to do the Installation?

Sure there is, but you must use a retail upgrade or full version.

Sounds like you are trying to run the Windows XP upgrade from within Windows
ME. Have you tried booting from the Windows XP Upgrade CD (assuming your
BIOS allows you to boot from CD-ROM drive)? I would think the CD-booted
Windows XP would detect your current Windows ME already installed (as
qualification for the upgrade) and then do the upgrade. However, I
personally never ever do upgrades, especially from a 95-based Windows to an
NT-based Windows. I instead prefer to save all my data and config files,
wipe the disk, boot from the upgrade CD, and then insert the prior version
Windows CD when prompted so I start from a fresh install of the OS rather
than lug along all the then worthless VXD and other driver files, registry
settings valid only under 95-based Windows, and all the other garbage which
eventually pollutes a used OS and can screw over a new OS.
