I would like to turn off the audio portion of my mail notification. When I am listening to music and receive an email, "bang" right in the middle of nice and soothing jazz. I want to keep the visual notification.

What email client are you using? If you are using Outlook Express, just go
to tools - options and then uncheck the option to play a sound when a new
email arrives. In Outlook 2003, it's under tools - options - email options -
advanced email options. Other mail clients will likely have them elsewhere.

You are using Outlook as your email program? If so, from your Inbox, click on the Tools menu, then Options. On the Preferences tab, click the E-mail Options button. On the next window, click the Advanced E-mail Options button. Uncheck the box to play a
sound when new mail arrives.

Fortunately, Microsoft makes it easy to find such things.... =/

1. Open Control Panel
2. Click on Sounds and Audio Devices
3. Click on Sounds tab
4. Find 'New Mail Notification'
5. Change Sounds to (None) from list
