View Full Version : Compressed files in ZIP don's show?
per
December 5th 03, 12:33 AM
Hi there,
I'm not sure if I'm in the right pew or not... but I have found what seems
to be a "bug" in the XP zip file functionality? When opening a ZIP file for
viewing, I have found that files compressed into a ZIP file can not be seen
if the file name contains a comma.
Has anyone else found the same thing. Or could it be that I'm missing
something here?
Thanks in advance for your help.

Havent heard of that before. Can you give me an example file name so I know
where the comma is and i can test it.

MS is already aware of the problem. The article linked below was published
April 29 - just a few weeks ago. The fix isn't "hardened" enough to be
offered via Windows Update but should be available there eventually. If you
need the fix now (in it's unfinished form), you can call MS tech support to
obtain a copy. Follow the link in the article for directions on obtaining
the preliminary patch:

Comma

You're welcome, Phillip.
Hope that fix comes soon. You may want to follow up with Joseph. Additional
data you may be able to offer on this could help MS to get it squared away
more quickly.

Thanks for your expertise Sharon, I work on the setup team so I typically
dont see the shell fixes (unless they take the servers down <G>)
You can always call in and get this fix if you need it, just reference the Q
article.

And thank you for the time you take in these newsgroups. I appreciate it.
I'm sure other MS customers do too.
