I installed the Help/Support Centre (Q327405) as recommended in Windows
Update.

Now I'm unable to exit Windows Messenger. I suspect that Help/Support Centre
is using some sort of feature associated with Messenger.

How do I uninstall Q327405?

Gareth.

Open Messenger, and if you have a MS Passport and use it to log
onto MS messenger (Winmsgr), Open Tools|Options General Tab. Remove
the check in the "launch when windows starts" and "run in background"
fields.
This will cause it not to even start (save when H&S is used). If you
totally want to remove messenger from startup with system. You will
need to run MSCONFIG and either on services or startup tabs look for
win messenger and un-check, then click on apply then ok and restart.
At the reminder for running msconfig at startup click on "do not show
warning or config tool". This will be ok until you change settings,
like during maintenance of drives.
