Can not delete flie, LOCKED ?????

Hi,
some advise please, trying to delete a file and windows tells me it is
locked or in use by another program.
I have checked Task manager and have nothing else running.. When I look at
the properties, none of the
attribute boxes are checked. I can move this file, I can rename it but can
not delete it.A virus check is negative
Very odd, does anyone know of this?

Bob , I've got one just like that also. I have tried deleting it from
safe mode , I've tried booting to a command prompt and deleting from there ,
Tried several disk cleaning programs and deleting through them. Have
asked for help here about three or four times over the past few months and
received very little response and no solution . If you get yours
figured out , please post it here so I can try the same thing.

Okay, here is how I finally managed to kill the danm thing,
It was an MPG by the way.
I renamed it as a temp file and then used windows Clean up from the
accessories to purge all temp files,
rebooted and it was gone.
