View Full Version : MVPs: if you can comment - Video problem with MSN Messenger 6.1

Hi - have seen quite a few posts regarding problems with webcams and MSN Messenger 6.1, particularly, when using the Audio/Video Tuning Wizard, the camera selection returns an error message "The camera you selected is not working properly or may be in use
by another program etc". Consequently, video communication is not possible through the messenger prog.

I am experiencing the same problem with both MSN Mess 6.1 and Windows Mess 4.7 (ie tuning wizard gives the error message as above). Could any of the MVPs (or anyone else for that matter) shed some light on this? Camera's drivers have been updated. I am
using Windows XP home (XP has the latest updates too). Webcam is Creative Webcam.

Thanks in advance,
Ed

Greetings Edward,

This behavior is usually the result of the driver and creative's cams are notorious for doing
this. What I'm curious about is if you can use this camera within Netmeeting (click Start,
then Run, type "conf" and click OK) or try using it as a recording device in Windows Movie
Maker.

I have a similar problem. I am using Messenger 4.7 - and can use audio/video okay with another use who has Windows XP, but not with one who has Windows 2000. Does anyone know if there's anything I can do.r
