View Full Version : How can we remove .net passport option from win msgr
January 22nd 04, 08:03 PM
Jonathan, et al,
We're running Windows messenger 5.0 over exchange server
for intranet use only. Recently however, we discovered
users can set up the .net passport to communicate outside
of our network. For security reasons we need to disable
this ability completely. Is there anyway to gray out
the .net passport option? We can't just block port 80
because that's open for our internet traffic. Any ideas???
Thanks
Stacy

Greetings Stacy,
Yes you can -- you just need to enable the policy in the registry to do this, as in this .reg
file:
http://messenger.jonathankay.com/downloads/exchangeonly.reg
You have to close and restart Messenger to see the change.
