View Full Version : HP Laser 4L

Have just upgraded a computer from MS ME to XP Pro. I
believe that I have upgraded the drivers for my HP
Laserjet but it will not print. When I try to print a
document the lights flash but nothing is printed and
nothing is sitting in the print queue. I have worked my
way through the troubleshooter to no avail, ie nothing
prints from notpad or the DOS prompt.
I have disconnected the printer and connected it to a
computer that has same version of XP Pro and it works
fine.
Reconnected to original computer and lights but no
printing.
Any ideas? Thanks in advance

The first step is to delete the printer driver from Control Panel Printers
and Faxes. Next, run the Add new printer wizard and select the HP LJ 4L.

I have an Epson ActionLaser 1500 and it is doing the same
thing you described w/ XP Pro. I tried the fix suggested
with no luck.

Since you say the printer works on a different machine, I would assume there
is a problem with the parallel port, I seem to dimly remember a couple of
issues with the 4L (no data on the Epson though). Try setting the parallel
port mode to whatever it currently isn't set to and see whether that fixes
the problem.
