Dail up password

[Lynn]

Set up internet, dail up worked fine, signed off and came back to get back
on the 'Net and now Win XP looks like it's doubled my password. I get an
error that says password and ID do not match, that's when I found the
password in set up was wrong also. I corrected it. Logged off and came
back AGAIN, it doubled the password.
Why and what can I do to fix this.

In XP extra password "dots" are put in to help disguise the password. Once
you have succesfuly connected, ignore the ammount of "dots" in the password
box.
It's a security thing.......

This is by design - it isn't "set up wrong". It's a security measure to stop
someone guessing your password by the length (e.g. you have a six character
password, XP doubles it to 12, the casual observer will think you have a 12
character password and therefore won't guess at 6).

You stupid ****ing ****! XP does not double the characters of a =
password, the characters are added at random. If XP simply doubled them =
every time, it would make it academic to what the true charater length =
would be, you ****. Of course, I have to remember you have the logic of =
a gormless linux****!

Ignore it. It's nothing more than a troll. It only posts here for the
attention it blatantly isn't getting anywhere else. Kill-file it, it never
posts anything remotely helpful. Trouble is, it'll be back tomorrow using a
different email 'address'.

Would you mind doing me a favour and not quoting its posts if you ever find
it necessary to reply to it in the future (though I cannot forsee a time
when that would ever /be/ necessary!)? Thanks.
