Since replacing hard drive last week and installing XP
Home Edition, having several conflicts, trying to work
with Gateway On-line, they can't take control of my
computer because of msjava.dll not installed...have tried
several time to install from java.sun.com, it'll start,
then stop....getting pretty aggravated with Windows
XP.....really beginning to miss Windows ME...can anyone
help?

Greetings --
As the result of a lawsuit by Sun Microsystems, and the ensuing
settlement, Microsoft is no longer allowed to provide its own Java
Virtual Machine to Windows users. You can get almost the same
functionality by downloading Sun's version of Java from
http://java.sun.com/getjava/index.html. If you want the broader
capabilities of Microsoft's Java Virtual Machine, it is still
available from a lot of 3rd-party web sites, some of which are listed
here: http://www.java-virtual-machine.net/download.html.
If you do choose the Microsoft JVM, be sure to visit Windows
Update to apply a needed security patch.

You can download MAVM from the following link. After installing, run Windows
Updates.

Hey Penny,
Do your self a favor. Do not use the online installer to install Java. Get the offline installer. The online SUN Java installer always kicks people off, I have seen this type of thing once to often. Although its not the MS Java DLL it should still work
with the Java app that Gateway is using.
