Hi there!

Does anybody know how to change the detailed view of computers in XP's
windows explorer, so that it will not show the computer-description in
front of the computer-name(both displayed in the name-field)? This is
not a major issue, but I find it quite annoying while browsing the
network and I heard similar from others in my company. Thanx a lot in
advance.

Hi, Shad ... your post is a bit confusing as to what you're trying to
display. By the phrase 'detailed view of computers', I assume you're
looking at My Computer in Explorer in View, Details ... is your term
'computer-description' to mean the columns in the right hand pane? If
so, you can click on the View 'pull-down' menu and uncheck whatever you
don't want to view (i.e. comments) or drag the column titles left or
right to whatever position you'd like.

If you're saying that you want the drive letter to appear *before* the
computer's given name (both in the Name column), TweakUI will do that.
Just go to 'My Computer', 'Drive Letters' and put a check in "Never show
drive letters' (I know, it's a bug in TweakUI, but that's the place).

If neither of the above addresses your question ... post back.

The "Never Show Drive Letters" checkbox is not in TweakUI.... Which version are you using?

In version 2.10.0.0, it's under My Computer> Drive Letters.

This URL links to the download page for the version that *only* installs if
SP1 is present (version 2.10.0.0):
