Windows XP doesnt support UDF packet writing. you have to
use Roxio's Easy CD Creater to do this. To get around the
error you need to erase the disc.

*SIGH* you just won't be told, will you? If you can't post an accurate
answer, please don't post. Easy CD Creator isn't the only packet writing
software in existence (ever heard of Nero?)

If it's a CD-R what good will erasing do? You can only write to a CD-R once,
so erasing it will achieve nothing. True the icons may be gone, but no disc
space will have been reclaimed.

Thanks

The specific problem I have is this. I downloaded data from one computer to
a cdrw disk. That computer has win 98. My new computer, with win xp will
not read those files. I have Nero cd burning software. Even starting up
this software would not allow me to recognize the files I had saved on this
cdrw disk. Any suggestions.

Thank you

What is bizarre is that several days ago I copy a large number of word
documents from my old computer to the cdrw disk. My new computer read the
disk and I save them on my new computers hard drive. Today my new computer
will not recognize any of the files on this cdrw disk, even the same word
files it did just several days ago.

You stupid bint! The OP mentioned CD-RW, no CD-R, and one can too write =
again to a CD-R, if there is space left, as long as the session hasn't =
been finalized (closed). Why don't you follow your own advice, you =
gormless ****ing ****!

I fixed the problem by downloading cd roller from cdroller.com. It let my
new computer with windows xp read the files from the cdrw disk.
