I have XP Home and I had gotten a blue screen of death and
ever since that when you boot up it gets to the XP Home
loading page with the scroll bar moving left to right and
it sits there for about 3-4 minutes and then reboots
itself. I does this even when trying to go into safe
mode. No mode works. I also tried to go back to a
previously working version, still it does it. I even
tried to reload XP over the old and it give me an error
that it can't do it when you pick the drive to install it
to. Is there a way out of this without formatting and
reinstalling XP? I appreciate your feedback in advance...

Hi Steven,
If it boots Safe mode, then you can use the steps here to isolate the =
problem:
HOW TO: Perform Advanced Clean-Boot Troubleshooting in Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=3D316434
You could also try a repair install. Follow these steps to do a repair =
install which should preserve your data, settings, and programs:
1. Insert the Windows XP CD into your computer's CD-ROM drive or DVD-ROM =
drive.
2. Restart your computer. If you have to, change the BIOS settings to =
start from
the CD-ROM drive or DVD-ROM drive, and then restart your computer again.
3. At the "Welcome to Setup" page, press ENTER.
4. Press F8 to accept the Licensing Agreement.
5. Use the arrow keys to select the installation of Windows XP that you =
want to
repair, and then press R to start the automatic repair process.
6. When Setup is completed, activate Windows XP.
Note that you will need your Product Key for this procedure, so have it =
handy before you begin.

From your description, I'm afraid not. Use your disk drives install
software and choose to wipe the drive. (differs from manufacturer to
mfg) - Seagate lowlevel format, WDC uses diags, write zeros, full.
Then repartition and reformat. Restart and install eithe XP clean self
install (full version) or install old OS the upgrade from there for
the upgrade. Defrag the drive after initial installs, the update from
website, defragging afterwards.

You should probably check to make sure all your hardware
is configured/installed correctly if you have changed
anything recently. Every time I have had a reboot loop,
it has been hardware.
