I think the problem is that you just have two copies of
Win XP on there (the fact that it's pirated isn't what's
screwing it up). When you boot up, does it give you the
option to boot to both the old and new copies of XP? If
so, you may be able to just unistall the old one and
hopefully solve your problems.
