View Full Version : How can I repair an apparently damaged zipped file, so that I can successfully unzip it?

Hi,

Prior to reformatting my hard drive to try to avoid the numerous errors that
my computer was making, I backed up then zipped my most important
information. I zipped the backup file, because I have been unable to get
the Windows XP backup facility to compress the data, the way the Windows 98
backup program used to do, and the original file would have been too big
for my backup storage medium.

However, when I tried to unzip the backup file, the zip program gave me the
following error message near the end of the unzip process: bad CRC 1bd65e71
(should be 76036e33). I was subsequently unable to view the contents. How
can I repair the zipped file, so that I can successfully unzip it?

Sincerely,
