Printers And Faxes Folder disappear

When I open Control Panel ; then open Printers And Faxes Folder it may remain open momentarily and then just disappear. I can get into it from most programs that allow printing by : File-Print-; then right click within the printer that I want to access an
d get properties; cancel documents printing; pause; set as default printer etc. BUT I shouldn't have to do that Something is wrong. This had been ongoing for several months now without other problems cropping up but I would like to know what has happened
and if there is a reasonable solution.

Running Windows xp pro. Printers are :
1. Acrobat Distiller, Ne03
2. Canon MultiPASS F30 printer, Ne 02
3. OmniForm LPT1
4. PDF995,Ne01
