It's fine if you want an ntfs file system. Ntfs is, of
course, more secure than fat32 but you can't use a
windows 98 or Me startup disk to access the dos prompt
like you could with fat and fat32 file systems. Ntfs does
not recognise dos. You have been only offered ntfs
because of the size of your hard drives. If you are more
comfortable with fat32 the try partitioning your hard
drives to create a smaller file area. Fat32 can be used
on drives/partitions up to 32GB. So, if you want fat32
restrict your partition size to below 32GB

Hope this helps

John, I read on this or another MS ng the following info. Can't verify its
correctness currently. I understand that XP will only format FAT 32
partitions up to 32 GB but will read and write to partitions to the full
size of the drive. To use a drive as FAT 32 drive over 32 GB you have to
partition with fdisk and format with Win 98/ME boot disk then start XP so it
can pick up the drive.
