Hello all
I am getting this problem which as just started, and that is my system keeps
locking up totally. I can not even use Ctrl Alt Del because that is locked
out as well I have to resort to switching off by power button
I have at this point a CPU temperature of 55c I have gone into safe mode to
check out any other reason this may be happening and even in that mode I
find it locking up.
I need from your clever selves to clarify that this is a over heating
problem or if not, what can it be. I have come back to the comp after half
hour and it seems to be at the moment ok.
Is this temperature safe or am I having to consider a better heatsink and
fan
My Specs are
Msi Ultra2 Mobo
Cpu 2200+
Agp nivida Ti4200
Ram 1gb
Hd 40gb5400
Pher: Hp printer 960c, Canon scanner, 17" monitor
Cd rewriter 40+12+48
Cd Rom56+
All have updated drivers And all the latest ms updates
there as been no oclocking

That temperature is a little high. Cool it and see if the hang occurs.

It also could be bad RAM. but for the heat problem try running your PC with
the side of the case off and see if it still happens. also you could
consider putting a box fan about 6 feet away from your and turn it on LOW to
pin point if thats really what it is. the box fan will give you all the
cooling need, so u can be sure that what it is.

i had the same type problem. i had BSOD's all over the place, MS had no
idea what it might be, then i just replaced that RAM and that fixed it.

While 55 is a little higher than I would like to see, it is not hot enough
to harm the processor. Check in your BIOS to see if it is set up to shut
down at 55 degrees. Many newer boards have monitoring software which allows
you to adjust temp levels for warning and shutdown.

Hello everyone
John Chin thanks for your input I used the memory tool you suggested to test
my Ram modules the test results were successful.
Steve C. Ray and thank you for your input,I did check in Bios I have a
crucial temperature list and I have it set at 70c which would give me a
warning. I also have monitoring software set up, that software is Pc Alert 4
which as cooler xp which is set manually once my comp as fully booted up
but sometimes before I get the chance to do it the temp as rose to 55 plus
and my comp locks up. At the moment the temp is running at 42c with cooler
xp running and I have added a system Fan but I have had no problem with
system temperature, it just appears to be a CPU heat problem, the Heatsink
and Fan came with the Mobo plus CPU.
