You need to install an OCR (Optical Character Recognition) software
program. Check your scanner's User's Guide to see if OCR software
was included with your scanner's software installation CD.

If there is no OCR software bundled with the scanner, here is a link to a
free OCR. I have downloaded and installed it but haven't had a chance to
really check it out yet. It may something of interest to you .
