I see. What particular DeskJet? Some are. If you are looking for a way to
use the printer with a computer that has Windows 2000 or XP installed it
would help if you let us know exactly which printer model it is.

Early DeskJets will operate with something similar to: the Epson FX 80, the
Epson generic 9-pin driver, the IBM Graphics printer driver. However, with
any of these drivers (and some few others) not all of the printer's features
are supported; there is just basic functionality. One or more of these are
on the distribution CD for any Windows OS.
