I have an Asus A7N8X Deluxe mobo w/ integrated sound (this is one of Asus'
latest boards, with modern drivers, etc.). After installing WinXP Pro +
SP1, everything works fine except the audio.
A quick check in Device Manager shows the drivers are installed incorrectly,
so I click on Update Driver. I install the drivers from the mobo CD, but XP
tells me they are not digitally signed. I continue anyway, then XP tells me
that "driver installation failed, the data is invalid."
I went to Asus website and downloaded the latest XP drivers for the onboard
audio, but get the same error messages as above.
It makes no difference if I uninstall the drivers before re-installing them.
The onboard sound is enabled in the BIOS and I know that it is working
because Asus has a speech POST reporter that comes through the speakers
prior to XP loading. Once XP loads, there is no sound.
If I try to use Winamp, it tells me no soundcard is installed.
The system is not yet connected to the internet, so I can't use Windows
Update.
Any ideas?
