printer can't print double sided pages

<<transferred my old hp712c with original software cd,to
my new ibm a30#819955 with win xp home installed by ibm.

<<the old combination of the hp712c and win98 printed
<<double sided pages.

<<the new combo,ie, hp712c and win98 does not have an
<<option for printing double sided pages.

<<visited hp online and used their online driver analysis
<<system which reported "the correct and latest driver was
<<installed for win xp".

<<microsoft referred to ibm, as ibm loaded the xp into
<<the computer------ibm referred me back to hp.

??can i and/or how do i get the xp/712c combo to print
<<double sided pages.

From my understanding you will not get all the functions such as double
sided printing with XP with that printer.
