I have a problem with Norton Antivirus. When I start the
computer Auto-protect doesn't start at start up and it
also can not be manually enabled. When I go to options
and click Auto-Protect enable and press O.K. nothing
happens. I go back to the options to click Auto-Protect
enable, but it is still unchecked. Also it says error
infront of e-mail scanning in the NAV menu. Also I once
had an error on shut down saying ccApp.exe has encounted
and error and I clicked "End Now". I think it is related
with the problem. How can I fix it and why did it occur?

Thanx,

John

Try www.symantec.com
They will probably recommend uninstalling, from add/remove dialogue, then
completing the 'manual completely remove from my sys. process'. Before
reinstalling - with NO other apps, inc task bar apps, running.

Have you tried to reset everything back to defaults? Also if you have a
third party firewall make sure ccApp. can access the internet. Check to be
sure Norton starts when Windows does and reboot your computer. Hope that
works, good luck.

Hi,
see:-
Auto-Protect displays "Off" and Email Scanning displays "Error" in the
Norton AntiVirus 2003 System Status screen

Is it a legit version?

Also, have you installed any pirated 2004 versions of Norton products?

I found I had this problem when I had a pirated version of AntiSPAM 2004, and a pirated version of NAV2003.

Then *do* enlighten me as to why you're posting to a *WINDOWS* group?! Just
becase you're running the application under XP doesn't make this the right
place to be posting. You need to contact the developer of the application,
/not/ the OS.

I to have a problem with NAV Pro 2004. Bought mine at Staples only
because it was $30 of regular price and a $30 upgrade rebate to get
the product for free.

Upon boot-up of my system Auot-Protect is disable. I run NAV and try
to enable from there but it takes me to Symantec's Knowledgebase site.
Tells me to run LiveUpdate but the update still does not fix the
problem. Everything is checked in msconfig and running.

It then says to run a logging reg key. But since turning on the
Logging no error has occurred, yet.

My next option is to try a re-install.
