A friend just purchased a new computer running on Windows
XP. About five minutes after computer boots, there is a
beep, all the toolbar and frame headers go black, and the
theme image on the desktop reverts to the default. It
seems to only happen the one time per startup, and always
about five minutes after the computer starts up.
Occasionally, Word or Outlook will close or change windows
when this happens, but no apparent corruption of files or
lost inputs. It has happened when running Norton Virus
Scan, and it crashed Norton. Not connected to network,
dialup access only. Am at a loss to figure out what
process is kicking in and resetting the screen display, or
why. Any ideas?
