Strange problem. I installed a network printer (HP
LaserJet 4000 TN) on my machine one night while I was
RAS'd in. The printer is available for printing in all
applications and except for a few font issues, works like
a champ. I also installed Adobe Acrobat Writer on my
machine, and that is available from all applications as
well.

The strange problem is this: When I look at Printers via
Control Panel, there are none. Not only that, but I
cannot add another printer. I click on
Start/Settings>Control Panel>Printers>Add Printer and
nothing happens. The mouse clocks for like 2 seconds,
hard drive hits for two seconds, nothing...no error,
nothing written to registry. Same if I open Printers and
Faxes.

This is the most bizarre thing I've ever seen. Any
suggestions?

I had to download and install the XP printer drivers for my HP inkjet before
the XP machine would see it. Afterwards I deleted the printer I installed
and left the network printer.
