I did a manual scandisk. after i restarted the computer
it got to 85% and stopped. so i had to press reset. now
every time i restart the computer it trys to do a
scandisk that will not complete. How do i tell windows
not to do a scandisk on my next restart.

running win xp home


Anybody help?????????

If chkdsk, not Scan Disk, is not completing it's run, there IS something
wrong with your partition/hard drive. When this happens, the most reliable
way to solve the problem is to delete the partition, create a new partition
and then format the partition. Then, immediately check the empty partition
for errors. If the drive still has problems, trash it and buy a new one.
