A good webcam???

I had win98 and an Intel webcam and Messenger: all worked
fine, connecting with California and Italy.

Changed to new computer ( Dell Pentium 4 2.4GHz) with
WinXP. Intel has stopped production of my model hence no
driver for XP.

Dowloaded Messenger 6 (is this the right number for XP?)
and bought a chip Logitech QuickCam Messenger ("up to
640x480 pixels").

So far,very poor results. any help? thanks

Logitech so far shows a grainy image. Intel was sharper
