View Full Version : HELP! PGP Decryption

I recently downloaded PGP 8.0.2, and I think I may have
accidentally encrypted an entire folder. In fact, I have
a main user folder, and a guest folder. I think I may
have encrypted the entire main user folder. Now, when I
try to log in as the main user (administrator privileges)
I can't access anything. And, I can't decrypt the folder
either. Can anyone help? What really stinks is that I
can't do a system restore from the guest folder because I
don't have administrator privileges. Anyone know of any
workaround? Thanks.

Talk to the people at PGP. If they have no solution, then the data is lost.
You can however log in as the "Administrator" in safe mode, unless you
encrypted that as well. That would at least let you create another user.

Can you provide instructions on how to log in as an
Administrator in Safe Mode using Windows XP Home? I
would really appreciate it. Thanks.

While the BIOS is POSTing, start tapping (do not hold), the F8 key (you
really only need hit it once, but the timing is tricky). This will display
the boot menu. Depending on many times you hit the F8 key and when, you'll
either be at the first or second page of the boot menu. If you don't see the
option for safe mode, then hit F8 again. Select safe mode and the rest
should be obvious.
