Jonanthan I loaded version 6 earlier, then I loaded Norton Suite 2003 and it
locked the pc. I have reformatted the H/D and have norton installed. Works
fine now. If messenger will cause a problem I can leave it out. This is an
old pc I am trying to fix for an older person that may never use messenger
( or the pc ). Can I turn norton off so it don't scan IM?

There really shouldn't be a problem with Norton and MSN Messenger 6 that will cause it to
lock up, but you can turn off the Norton Instant Messaging scanning by opening Norton
Antivirus (Right-click on the Norton Antivirus icon in the System Tray/Notification Area (by
the clock), choose 'Open Norton Antivirus'), click Options, then Instant Messenger then
uncheck MSN Instant Messenger and click OK.

Then reinstall MSN Messenger 6 and see if you have the same issue.
