I have a dell computer and it came with windows xp pre
installed. I had to reinstall windows xp and now it is
asking for a key code to activate it and it said the code
was on my computer. Can you tell me where to find the key
code or product code for xp on my computer.

I would take the time to copy key code into your Dell manual, WinXP =
book/manual, and on anything else you can. This will allow you to find =
the # if at anytime the sticker falls off the machine.

Should be on the computer, usually on the back.
If not check the documentations that came with the computer,
They may have not put it on their.
I’m not sure if Dell has a restore cd. You may have to use that.
However, Dell should have a phone number and be able to tell you -your
product key. By using you serial number outside of the computer.
They may try to sell you a restore disk, but you can insist on the
product key at no charge. Remind them of their license agreement
with Microsoft. All oem companies are required to attach the product
key to the outside of the computer.

My advice is as-is. It could trash your system.

Depending on the Dell computer, the product key for XP will be on the top,
back side or bottom of the computer. All laptops are placed on the bottom.
Some of their older systems had it placed on the top (Optiplex system) and
some had it on the side of the case (Dimension)
